I’m guessing many of you have been following this series for a while now. I’ve been reading since Volume 1, and when I finished Volume 7, I couldn’t help but let out a “Wait, finally!?”
『Asumi-chan Is Interested in Lesbian Brothels!』follows Asumi, who just turned 20 and starts visiting lesbian brothels—all in search of her childhood friend Mai. For those unfamiliar with the premise, it’s quite unique: in Japan, there are adult establishments that cater specifically to women seeking intimate services with other women. Asumi uses this unconventional method to search for Mai, who works in this industry.
The past few volumes had strayed quite a bit from Asumi’s original goal, but in this volume, things finally take a major turn. Reading through it, I genuinely felt like “Oh, the story is moving forward again.”

Synopsis: The Reunion We’ve Been Waiting For
Fresh-faced 20-year-old Asumi made quite the dramatic debut in the world of lesbian brothels. Day after day, she kept visiting establishments in her search for her childhood friend Mai. She’s been enjoying her “research trips” with her senpai—experiencing everything from threesomes to oppai pubs—when she finally gets the chance to book an appointment at a Tokyo establishment, hoping against hope that she might actually be able to request Mai.
Will Asumi finally reunite with Mai? That’s where Volume 7 picks up.
The Story Finally Moves: Reuniting with Mai
I’ll be honest with you—over the past few volumes, the story had drifted pretty far from Asumi’s main objective (finding Mai), and I kept wondering “When are they actually going to meet?” Then, in this volume, they just… meet.
I won’t lie, part of me felt a bit anticlimactic about it. But thinking about it more, I think it was the right choice. If things had continued the way they were going, I might have honestly lost interest. There was a real sense of relief that the story was finally moving forward again.
After the Reunion: The Line Between Private and Professional
With Asumi and Mai reunited, the focus shifts to exploring their relationship.
The two go on a private date, and things naturally progress to a hotel room. Mai was clearly expecting things to get intimate… but in the end, nothing happens between them. This leaves Mai feeling hurt and rejected.
Here’s the thing—Asumi held back because she thought “Mai is a professional, so it wouldn’t be right to expect that kind of thing in a private setting.” Her attempt at being considerate completely backfired.
Reading this scene, I kept thinking “It’s a private date! You don’t need to think of her as a professional here!” But from Asumi’s perspective, she was genuinely trying to be respectful. This miscommunication is so frustrating to watch, yet it feels so real. The way they’re both trying to navigate this complicated situation, both coming from a place of caring but completely missing each other—it’s heartbreaking in the most relatable way 🌸
Sayaka’s “Tachi” Training: A New Strategy
Still worked up after her incomplete encounter with Mai, Asumi visits a lesbian brothel and books her regular: Sayaka.
Sayaka, as it turns out, has heard about Asumi and Mai’s situation through Mai. She asks Asumi directly: “How do you feel about Mai?”
For those unfamiliar with the terminology: in Japanese lesbian relationships, “tachi” (タチ) refers to the more assertive/giving partner, while “neko” (ネコ) refers to the more receptive partner. These roles aren’t rigid, but they’re common terms in the community.
Through their conversation, Sayaka comes up with an idea—she wants to train Asumi to be a “tachi.”
Her reasoning? Mai has lost confidence in her abilities as a tachi. To help Mai regain that confidence, maybe Asumi needs to be the one who takes the lead? This proposal from Sayaka struck me as incredibly thoughtful and kind.
The scene where Asumi receives her “tachi training” is both earnest and somehow comedic at the same time. There’s something wonderfully absurd yet touching about using professional services as relationship coaching.
Will this strategy work? I’m genuinely curious to see how it plays out.
Looking Forward
What will happen with Asumi and Mai’s relationship going forward? Will they become an actual couple? And if they do, what about Asumi’s relationship with Nanao…?
For those of us who’ve been following this series from the beginning, these are the burning questions. After reading Volume 7 and seeing the story start moving again, I’m genuinely excited for the next volume.

I’ll admit, the past few volumes had a sense of stagnation, but Volume 7 really kicks things back into gear. Whether you’ve been reading since Volume 1 or you’ve been curious about where the recent chapters have been heading, this is a satisfying read.
